绿豆糕

A traditional Chinese dessert made from mung beans.

Prep time: 2 hours
Cook time: 30 minutes
Servings: 20-30 pieces

Ingredients

  • 300g 去皮绿豆
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 80g honey
  • red bean paste

Instructions

  1. 1.wash 绿豆 with water, then soak overnight in the fridge
  2. 2.steam 绿豆 on low heat for 45 minutes, make sure that the beans are crushable
  3. 3.put mung beans in food processor and 打碎
  4. 4.put butter in pot and melt
  5. 5.put the mung bean powder in the pot and cook on low heat for 3-5 minutes
  6. 6.turn off the heat
  7. 7.add honey into pot and mix
  8. 8.put on pot cover and let it cool off a bit
  9. 9.create the red bean filling but rolling red bean paste into small ball
  10. 10.form pot, take 30 g mung bean powder and split it in half
  11. 11.put in the red bean paste between the two halves and cover the red bean paste with the mung bean powder
  12. 12.put step 10 into the mold to have a pattern
